TRACE center has created a wonderful site for parents and caregivers of children with special play needs.

This is a site I find that I keep coming back too. It has excellent information on different conditions and disorders, full listings of manufacturers and retailers of special equipment, and many informative articles. Check it out for yourself!

For these kids, a sensory stratagy can help. ,Try letting the child hold "fidget toys" during circle or class. Try a Skwish, a few Wikki Stix, or Strength Putty. All of these toys feature sophisticated designs which do not look out of place in the hands of a school-age child. Save these toys for circle or quiet class time only. ,For more helpful ideas, see the article "Helping Fidgety Kids Sit Still" in the PlayPen.
